This story is one of the reasons I’m fundraising for Oregon Food Bank this Hunger Action Month. 💚
At 71, Elder Johnny Bradford is still on the move — delivering food to shelters, affordable housing communities, churches, reservations and communities across Oregon.
Johnny meets people where they are, because he knows that sometimes food is the first step toward connection, safety and trust.
His story reminded me that ending hunger takes all of us. Food banks and community organizations are essential, but they can’t solve hunger alone. We also have to rethink the policies and systems that make it harder for people to afford food in the first place.
That’s why I’m raising $ this Hunger Action Month. I’m currently $ away from my goal!
Will you help me get there?

My goal is to raise $ by the end of September, and I’d love your help getting there.
I’m fundraising because I believe we need to rethink hunger.
Hunger isn’t a personal failure. It’s shaped by choices about wages, housing, healthcare, childcare and access to resources. Food banks help people get food today, but we also need to address the root causes of hunger.

No one in Oregon should have to choose between groceries, healthcare, childcare and rent. That’s why I’m getting involved this Hunger Action Month.
1 in 6 people in our state are at risk of going hungry — and that’s not okay. I’m joining the movement to Rethink Hunger and advocate for real solutions.
Want to help? You can donate, volunteer or just share this post. Every little bit counts.

Hunger happens in all corners of Oregon.
And it shows up in impossible choices in everyday moments like stretching groceries, skipping meals and wondering if there will be enough.
“When you are counting every meal, it changes you. You never forget that feeling.” —Rose Vakkai
This Hunger Action Month, we’re doing something about it. Join us by donating, advocating, volunteering or sharing: whatever works for you.
Did you know visits to Oregon Food Bank Network sites went up 51% in just two years? That’s 2.9 million visits last year alone.
Hunger is everywhere in Oregon — from Ashland to Tillamook to Portland to Ontario. And it’s not just about a lack of food. It’s about policy choices that make it harder for people to get by.
This September, I’m advocating for change! Join me?
